Great little gem of a place , spotlessly clean and great communication with host , no issues at all

The house was in the ideal location for us.

The front door did not open. Fortunately we were able to access the property from the French windows at the rear. This made access more challenging. Far worse than this was the fact that the water, lights and blinds/curtains were all operated remotely by a central panel. The panel did not work… we had arrived on a Sunday evening to open curtains and no lights on apart from in the main bedroom where there was a huge chandelier over the bed, room lights and side table lights all on.
We immediately phoned for help and got through to someone from what sounded like a call centre who said they’d get someone to call back and/or visit to rectify. So we stayed in… When nothing had happened we called again and another call handler said that she could refund us if we left immediately but otherwise would ensure someone would be there or contact us first thing in the morning. 5 hours from home on a Sunday night in a rural location we didn’t feel we had a choice but to stay.

High tech, modern and well decorated.

Very small, very expensive for what it is, tiny bathroom, tiny second bedroom, outdated instructions that the host sends (eg no hot water tap in property, no need to turn on heating / hot water manually), no Netflix (need to use our own), wrong side of high street, pictures are deceiving - make the property look much larger than it is

Beautifully decorated and furnished.
very comfortable for a short stay.

We were bitterly disappointed in this property from the moment we approached the front door and I can see why there is not a photo of it on your site, for the price we paid over £150 per night it was just not good enough, this was purely down to very poor cleaning, maintenance and presentation, we even decided to leave a day early due to the disappointment. This property has all the mod cons but these are not worthy if the basic cleaning can’t even be presented to your customers, I honestly feel that your cleaners awareness to hygiene and maintenance awareness is severely lacking. I have used AirB&B over a dozen times and I can honestly say that this was the biggest disappointment we have experienced and that I will think twice before ever using host and stay again, they have not even bothered to respond to my concerns with a resolution within their timescale given, I held back giving a review to allow them to reply but alas I have heard nothing.

The unit is in a great location and very quiet.

Quiet and convenient for the town

The lighting system requires more information on how to use it.
Very small bathroom

Great location, walking distance to shops & attractions. Private parking is a bonus.

Very small bathroom, not much room to manoeuvre. No hand soap provided, although hand lotion was! TV only had streaming apps to watch live TV on.

We had a good stay at Priory Yard. The accommodation was super clean and the beds and sofa very comfy. It's also a very quiet cul-de-sac and a few minutes walk into town. A couple of flags for future guests though... there is very little storage space. We were surprised that there was nowhere to hang our coats (it chucked it down the wknd we were there) and there is also no storage at all in the second bedroom. There is some hanging space in a cupboard in the main bedroom, but it was also where a mop and hoover were being stored. We were there for a funeral and had smart clothes to hang up so not ideal, but workable. Also, it's worth knowing that after booking there is another compulsory fee to the company who owns the property - damage waiver and admin fee. Not eyewatering, and in the small print, but not totally clear in the purchase pathway. Other than that, we had a great stay and ideal for short break in Barny.

Great place. Staff answer rapidly. Clean, good parking, quiet, centre of town and nice contemporary decor.

Excellent location! The property was well maintained and styled beautifully. Booking and check in was made seamlessly. Great little find!

The only issue we had was the temperature. We stayed when it was snowing and minus 5 outside. Arriving at around 7pm, the temperature inside the property was just 6 degrees and despite putting the heating on straight away and having it on all night, it struggled to reach double digits. We appreciated that the weather was cold but we think it could have benefited from the heating being put on prior to guests’ arrival in the winter months.

Small, modern cottage, clean and well equipped. Just what we needed for a local base to attend a wedding.

The cottage was lovely and the team at Host & Stay were always quick to reply to questions.

Good location to explore Barnard castle

Unfortunately a high tech house with problems, lights and blinds on a control panel which had issues so difficult to operate, no tv unless you have your own Netflix account, shower temperamental as also on a control panel, as for host and stay definitely will avoid in future, on booking it states there on no extra costs or charges, please update and make clear, you are charged £10 to pay a £250 deposit for damages, which isn't returned for around 3 weeks!!!! There is no need for this as booking.com hold card details for this purpose

Very nice property with modern amenities. Good location and very good communication from host.

Great location for centre of town in a spotlessly clean property. Towels etc provided a bonus. Lovely walk down along the river with no need to use the car.

No signage indicating defined parking space for car.
19/09/2023
Central location, good car parking, very pleasant interior, equipment and facilities, good attention to detail throughout.
Excellent for couple possibly with one or two small children.

Very Minor: all switchable lights from various panels took a few minutes to work out else excellent.

Location and comfort of the property

Unfortunately the tv wasn’t working properly- followed instructions on the guide provided but had to contact host & stay. Not rectified to our full satisfaction, didn’t spoil our stay though just frustrated that we are not techno savvy like the youth of today?

Lovely cottage, beautifully decorated within very easy reach of the town . Beautiful walk along the river a stone's throw from the property.

Property matched the images. Very pleasant property and perfect size for us with 2 grandchildren. The bathroom is a little neat but nothing spoiling there. All essentials in kitchen you would need. Very close to Barnard Castle centre so perfect location and nice and quiet.
Would definitely recommend

The location was perfect for our plans. The property was very clean and comfortable.

The light switches were ridiculously complicated and often didn’t work properly.
Front door was very awkward at times.
The shower was temperamental, often running cold.
06/08/2023
Excellent location, very clean, beds comfy. Good shower. Easy walking to bowes museum, castle, small river beach and play park. Nice little house in quiet location. Only problem is there's no microwave, bread knife, or spoon for stirring pans so come prepared if you're going to cook. Boiling water tap is the easiest one to reach and looks like ordinary hot tap so keep an eye if kids using kitchen. Great place to stay.

nice place
31/07/2023
The location of the property was spot on, an allocated parking space and then just a short walk to the centre of Barnard where there are lots of places to eat and drink and other shops to browse around

The lay out of the bathroom not much space between the toilet and entrance to the shower
22/07/2023
Good location. Comfortable living area and bedroom.

No obvious parking spaces, so had to hope we were in the right place. The front door was difficult to unlock so had to enter the property via the patio doors. The boiling water tap didn’t work. The on-line guide was useless. The bathroom was so cramped there was no where to put your toilet bag. Ridiculous over complicated light/blind switches, very difficult to use with poor sight.

Excellent accommodation, spotlessly clean and great amenities. Furnishings felt like a 'posh hotel' and the technology was easy to use (lights, blinds, TV etc). Private garden area which is a sun trap! The double bed was really comfortable too. Fully fitted kitchen with plenty of equipment which felt 'as new'.
We had a wonderful week exploring Barnard Castle and Teesdale - walking, sightseeing, watching Wimbledon on the big screen in the comfortable sitting room. Highly recommend the Barnard Castle bakery - Rise - for sourdough, French tarts - and plenty of good pie shops around. Also recommend a trip to Raby Castle. We had a day out in Durham and plenty of good walks in the area.
29/06/2023
Very well presented , good location , very clean

Not really disliked but took a while to figure out hot water tap , no kettle , also bathroom was a bit cramped as was 2nd bedroom which was not really a problem as we were not using it
29/06/2023
The location.
Chosen as a base for touring the area, which worked out well.

Firstly this is the only property through Booking.com that has asked for a damage waiver extra to the initial accommodation cost. I have used Booking.com for more than 20 years in most European countries, and Australia, and this has never arisen. For this reason alone we will not be using Host & Stay again.
There was no dedicated parking. We parked, and hopefully did not upset the local residents.
There were no dedicated waste bins within the property boundary.
There was no 'Welcome Pack'. No instructions as the the workings of the property, ie, lighting, appliances, etc, and no local information as is usual for travelers to an unknown location.
Initially the property looked like a magazine shoot, but it soon showed is failings.
There is nowhere at all to hang wet (or dry) clothing, or store muddy boots, down or upstairs.
The lighting is a nightmare - we never mastered it. It is all push button / computer controlled; ridiculously overengineered for such a small property. The ground floor was all on / all dimmed or off, including the standard lamp. The main bedroom was the same, again including the beside lamps. And why an eight lamp fitting was required above the bed is another question.
The bathroom lighting was the same, except for a sensor controlled fitting that shone on the mirror lighting the whole top floor. No so good for those of us 'of a certain age.'
The blinds were also computer controlled; the bedroom blind automatically coming down at 21.30 was annoying.
Perhaps some written instructions would have helped us master the lighting.
The bathroom is tight. Anyone above small to average would have problems using the toilet or accessing the shower.
The shower is again push button. it takes ages to heat up, using lots of water in the process. I never did reach the temperature I prefer at home. The main outlet is a drencher type fixe to the ceiling, with a secondary handheld head.

It seems I have run out of space to continue.

The location, the layout of the house
All done to a very high standard
Nice and quiet

No house number on the door, the parking space or the bins
Unable to get the TV to work.

Great host. Great location.
24/04/2023
Location was good, convenient for the town and local facilities.

Booking via Host & Stay was a nightmare in my opinion and having to pay a damage waiver or deposit was completely unnecessary. The property could have done with instructions for some of the electronic devices. Everything was electronic control and it seemed the machines were fighting back. The boiling water and hot water in the kitchen sometimes didn't work and the shower would turn off in mid-flow, it wasn't any good attempting to use a mobile phone in the location as there was no signal. Reserved parking was mentioned but this seemed to be more a free for all with first come first served.
The property could have been better cleaned, lumps of something left on the hob and the state of the tea towel left a lot to be desired. Perhaps the most annoying thing was lack of room in the bathroom between the loo and shower screen; also the light in the bathroom that came on automatically whenever anyone went near the door, even at night. A few more practical items would have; there was nowhere to hang coats or leave wet shoes.
21/02/2023
Very tastefully decorated, took a little time to figure out all the automated lights and curtains etc but got there in the end.

It is quite compact and bijou. The parking space should have a number on it. Front door was a little tricky to open.

This was our first time using Airbnb and we have had the best experience in Durham. The host was really helpful and responsive.
The property was perfect for our stay and exactly as described on the site. The whole family loved the stay and will be booking again when in the area.
The perfect place to stay to appreciate the beautiful area!! Five star review.

The property was very clean and had great style. The location was also excellent. We would highly recommend this property.

The stay was wonderful, but a few minor items would have made it perfect. Please consider adding a bread knife and pot holder to the kitchen (if there we did not see them) and consider including an easy description of how to operate the washer/dryer for the property book. We already notified Stay and Host (and sent photos) about the loose toilet seat and counter veneer that was loose. These were small items and we would definitely stay at this property in the future and recommend it to others.
26/11/2022
immaculately clean great location

hidden charges. £25 extra for damage insurance or alternatively £250 deposit with £10 admin charge. You don’t get money back for deposit for 2 weeks after stay. None of this is very clear when booking. We arrived at property in the afternoon it was 12 degrees Celsius and took 7 hours to heat up to 19. apartment has smart technology heating could have been set to more comfortable level for arrival

Smart, modern, clean.
The shower. I really liked the shower.

"Hot" water tap (in lieu of a kettle) did not work, even after running it slowly as suggested. Fortunateley I was able to boil water ina pan for a much needed cup of tea.
Wifi was not a straightforward connection. Connect was eventually established after the first nights stay.
TV was provided by "Freeview" via wifi but did not always work. I was able to watch TV using the screen share function with my tablet (after I managed to get the wifi to work)
