Very clean, with bedding that looked new.
We appreciated the quiet, peaceful, private property.
Missed some basic provisions such as dishwasher tabs.
What we really disliked was being emailed and text messaged too many times, firstly with reminders to check out (we already knew this checkout time and information; we’d had it since before even arriving) and subsequently with persistent requests for a review. I almost did not give a review because I had become so sick of this. When people are on holiday they need to relax; the repeated checkout reminders do not help with that at all.

This bungalow is dog friendly but i would not advise taking a dog unless they are super trained and used to not getting on the furniture. To access the garden you have to use the patio doors in bedroom 2.
Our dog is part of our family and furniture is not off limits for him at home. He came in from the wet garden and jumped straight on the pristine white duvet cover. It was quite stressful keeping him off the furniture. Other dog friendly places we have stayed offer dog towels, blankets, bowls and treats. There was nothing like that here.
This bungalow is lovely and close to the beach which our dog loved. The garden is very cluttered and not suitable for a dog to play in.

Clean and comfortable place, generous with coffee pods for the nespresso machine. Great location for quick walkable route to the beach in Marske.

Good kitchen facilities. On the whole suited our needs for the 3 nights we wanted as not too far to travel to Saltburn and Staithes.

Great location and an adequate property. Quiet road and close to the beach and town centre for restaurants, pubs and cafes. Photos on the site are an accurate representation of the property as a whole.

These are mostly minor niggles but they did add up to knock the overall rating down for us:
1) One of the beds was two singles zipped together - I understand that this is probably the most practical in terms of what sleep arrangements you can offer but it was not comfy for us.
2) No blind in the bathroom. The window was patterned glass but when you’re stood in the shower, you can see next door’s front door and see them getting into their car etc… a blind at the window would offer extra privacy.
2a) There is mould on the sealant in the shower and no extractor fan in the bathroom (or it’s not working).
3) The TV had Netflix but the it kept freezing/needing rebooting. Couldn’t watch a whole movie without having to restart the TV. Don’t know if it’s a TV or internet problem but it was annoying.
4) No bread knife in the kitchen that we could find.
5) Host and Stay do like to keep in contact with lots of messages - too many for my liking. Their philosophy seems to be ‘why send 2 messages when 5 will do!’
6) No pint glasses. There were 12 wine glasses, 6 champagne flutes, 5 highball glasses but no pint glasses. Not great when pouring a beer! And, why does a property that sleeps 4 need 12 wine glasses?
7) The information supplied about the area is out of date - it says The Ship Inn is open for food and drink when it is very clearly closed and looking for a new landlord.
8) The property appeared clean but on wiping the worktop in the kitchen, the wipe came away grubby. Also, the cushions on the smaller bed were covered in white hairs - probably dog hairs but I still wouldn’t want them on a bed that should be clean (see photo - and they’re not from our dog as he’s brown and non-shedding).
9) The sofa had loads of small stains on it - could do with a good clean.
10) The overall impression of this bungalow is that it was an older person’s residence that has had a bit of a makeover to be able to rent it out.

Clean and accessible, good location. Small details spoiled overall experience.

I asked shortly after booking if the one double could be split into 2 singles. This was agreed but on arrival hadn't been done.

I asked prior to arrival if the property had a freezer as I was having shopping delivered and wanted to include ice creams for the kids. I was told it had a refrigerator so didn't buy anything frozen. The property has a large fridge freezer!!!!

Every thing was there and of good quality and the location was perfect.

The remote control for the tv was a bit iffy. It could do with an extra standard lamp and small coffee table in the lounge.

It’s location and that it had two double bedrooms.

The front door lock was very awkward. The handle and key had to be in the exact position or it wouldn’t unlock.
The pillows were too big, hard and uncomfortable.

We had a very relaxing stay. Spotlessly clean little property in a great location, close to the beach and to a nice pub nearby that serves great food at reasonable prices.
