Tuesday 19th April, 2022 by hs-admin
Saltburn-by-the-Sea, commonly referred to as Saltburn, is a seaside town in North Yorkshire. It makes for a perfect staycation with stunning cliff walks and strolls along the beach, but after you’ve worked up an appetite, where is there to eat?
We’ve put together some of our favourite eateries below to help make your decision easier…
As featured on the BBC’s Remarkable Places to Eat, The Seaview Restaurant has recently been renovated and on a hot sunny day, you would think you’re in a beach club in the Med with the breathtaking sea views!
On the menu are delicious seafood plates cooked to order, moules, oysters, fishcakes and salmon.
They also serve the famous crab brioche eaten by Fred Sirieix and Nadiya Hussain on BBC’s Remarkable Places to Eat and seaside favourites such as fish and chips and Whitby scampi.
The restaurant is also named in The Times’ list of the top 20 best places to eat by the sea in the UK.
Tempted to go yet?
Going to the seaside but seafood isn’t your thing?
Alessi’s Italian is a family-run restaurant which was established in 1998 and has remained a popular choice over 20 years later.
On TripAdvisor, it’s rated fourth out of 40 restaurants in Saltburn – a pretty impressive feat. The menu includes Italian favourites such as margarita pizza, lasagne and carbonara pasta.
If you want a traditional Italian meal during your trip away, then Alessi’s should definitely be on your list.
Located near Saltburn’s train station, it’s a great place to stop for a quick bite before or after your journey.
The café offers dressed Whitby crab salads, quiches and even a dinner with all the trimmings on a Sunday – and the best news is, you can even have it as a takeaway.
If you’ve just arrived at your holiday let, put your feet up, don’t worry about cooking and grab a Sunday lunch without having to do the washing up!
Camfields was established in 2006 in the former miniature railway ticket office.
The espresso and juice bar offers a wide selection of fresh juices and smoothies made from natural ingredients, as well as Illy coffee and Beechdean luxury ice-cream. Food served is sourced locally and wherever possible is organic or free range.
Camfields cakes are provided by a Northern family-run business specialising in baking a large range of high-quality, award-winning, handmade cakes and desserts. Try favourites such as scones, a blueberry muffin or millionaire’s shortcake.
It’s a well-earned sweet treat after a long hike up the cliffs!
This chippy is located right on Saltburn’s promenade; a great place to nip in and grab a portion of fish and chips.
While it doesn’t have an indoor sitting area, you can outside (when the weather is good enough!) and enjoy its takeaway delights.
If you want a quick stop on your stroll, this is the place to get your chippy fix.
If you’re heading into the town for a walk around the local area, Spices Indian restaurant offers traditional Indian and Bangladeshi food.
If you’re a curry lover and love all things spice (see what we did there?) head over to the family-owned business and enjoy the likes of Masala, Korma or Vindaloo curries – if you’re brave enough!
You can grab a full meal for only £9.95 from Sunday to Friday, available 5:30pm until 7pm.
Located near at the rear of Hunt Cliff, the pub is a great place to sit outside overlooking the beach.
Bored of standard fish and chips? The grub here will certainly get your tastebuds going, and you can enjoy pub classics such as beef burgers, bangers and mash or even the famous Teesside delicacy, a chicken parmo!
If you’re scratching your head at the word ‘parmo’, a chicken parmesan is a famous dish from Teesside and consists of a breaded cutlet of chicken topped with a white béchamel sauce and cheese, usually cheddar.
We guarantee you’re going to love it!
