The lodge its self was lovely, the interior was very nice and beds were comfortable We were without electricity and hot water for around 24 hours, with two small children. We had to throw away around £100 worth of food that we had bought for the stay. We were made to feel like we had to just get on with it and no body was interested in helping. We were in the middle of cooking our meal when the electric went off again so it has to thrown away. We had to eat our meals out and get takeaways which resulted in a very pricey stay. The lodge was not very clean upon arrival, the mirrors were so dirty we literally couldn’t hardly see in them. The cupboards smelt damp and the decorative items were covered in a sticky residue. To top it off the dishwasher didn’t work on the first two days, we called the maintenance guy but he didn’t bother turning up until the next day when he had to come became the kitchen tap exploded off and water went everywhere. We were told just not to use the tap anymore. All we got told was that they were sorry for the inconvenience, because of all of this we kindly asked for a later check out and got told no. For £511 we were devastated! We felt the place was very clicky with a lot of lodge owners around, somehow everything we did got reported back to the owners, making us feel like we were being watched. The owners weren’t happy because we filled up a small paddling pool for the children when the weather was almost 30 degrees. I have added photos of all the food that had to be thrown out and the broken tap
Communication from the management company was excellent. They were always very fast to reply, which was the best part of our experience, and check in via the key safe was straightforward. The lodge itself is very spacious and well laid out. The main bedroom was comfortable and the bed linen and towels were clean. It is well equipped with useful items like a clothes drying rail, a vacuum, iron, ironing board, mop and a washing machine. The WiFi was decent and worked well with speeds of around 20mb, which was enough to stream content etc. It was very dog friendly, the site has plenty of green open space to explore with a dog (watch out for the wildlife if your dog is keen on rabbits, pheasants etc). The “boot room” by the front door was very useful as well. It’s a good spot, but it was let down by numerous issues during our stay. Unfortunately, the negatives outweighed the good points. We spent too much time cleaning and fixing things rather than relaxing, and we ultimately cut our stay short and went home a day early. The main issue was frequent site wide power cuts, both in the day and every night around 10pm for an hour or more. This affected all lodges in the area and at night turned the entire rural area pitch black, which was very disconcerting. On the day we left, the power was out from 11am until at least 1pm. Management replied quickly but could not help. Other websites show this is a known site issue as of May 2026. It happened numerous times over our 3 days there. Cleanliness was poor. There were long hairs on plates and glassware, and cutlery was put away dirty. Cupboards, drawers, and under the sink were dirty, and surfaces and mirrors were dusty and streaky. The dishwasher was unresponsive on arrival and full of dirty plates. It took us an hour to troubleshoot and fix it before we could wash all the dirty crockery and cutlery. The long black hairs on plates, cookware and in the fridge were very unappealing to discover. Carpets were also stained, in need of a clean. There was a slight stale, musty smell in the main bedroom and ensuite. It was also noticeable in the main bathroom. This is likely because the main bathroom shower leaks badly onto the floor even with the door closed, requiring a mop each time. For smaller points, the main bedroom could use a blind to block light, and the red and silver living room curtains and pillows really do not match the rest of the otherwise nice decor. Finally, the arrival directions from the management are insufficient. The Google Maps link you're told to follow takes you to entirely the wrong area, and with minimal on-site signage, we spent a while driving around trying to find our way to the lodge on arrival. Given the price we paid and stressful experience, we would not recommend this property and would not return.
